Adventure Cave Tour

Carolyn's Caverns, is a natural cave system in Silurian dolostone which is about a 10 minutes’ walk from the nature center.
Participants will use a stair case or ladder to enter the cave system and will be guided by a naturalist staff member throughout the tour. This staff member will give safety directions which need to be followed.
Carolyn’s Cavern’s has 4 large caves that are connected by crawl tunnels. You can go from one cave to another by going through a tunnel. If you choose not to use tunnels you will have the option of using a ladder to enter each cave.
There will be opportunity for kids to crawl in and explore tunnels, some are small and tight, and they will get dirty! We like to say here at Ledge View “the more fun you have, the dirtier you get!”
For the Adventure Caving Tour participants will first tour the 4 caves of Carolyn’s Caverns but will be expected to use crawl tunnels to go between each. We will then enter Mother’s Cave which is all crawling, sometimes on your belly and sometimes on your hands and knees. Tunnels can be tight and muddy, and this tour is quite physical, but loads of fun!
Participants need to bring a flashlight and must wear closed-toe footwear (no sandals or flip flops). To be comfortable a sweatshirt and long pants is recommended as the cave are around 55?F. This also provides protection from rocks. The tour Lasts for 2-3 hours depending on the group size, maximum 30 people. Minimum age is 10 years old and accompanied by an adult.
